Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 November 2026
This policy explains what personal information Humanity Foundation Kenya collects through this website, why, and how it is protected. It applies to donors, mentors and volunteers, parents and guardians, partner schools, and anyone who contacts us or subscribes to our updates. It does not apply to information our field staff and partner schools collect about pupils directly as part of running our programmes, which is governed by our separate safeguarding and child-protection policy, available on request.
Information we collect
This website does not take payments. Donations are made through M-Pesa or your bank using the details on our Donate page, and your M-Pesa PIN or banking credentials are entered only in your own M-Pesa or banking app, never on this website. We do not collect or store card or bank account numbers through this website. Where we hold records of past donations, they include the details recorded at the time. When you use the contact form, register interest in volunteering, subscribe to our newsletter, or register for an event, we collect the details you submit in that form. We also collect limited technical information automatically, such as your IP address and browser type, for security and fraud-prevention purposes (see our Cookie Policy).
How we use it
We use this information to keep our donation records, respond to enquiries, coordinate volunteering and mentoring, send the newsletter to people who subscribed to it, and to protect the website and our donors against fraud and abuse. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
We share the minimum information necessary with: Cloudflare, to verify that form submissions are from a real person rather than an automated script; and Google, which operates the email service we send confirmation and administrative emails through. We do not share personal information with any other third party except where required by Kenyan law.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 (Kenya), you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, delete it, or object to how it is used, subject to any legal or legitimate operational reason we may need to keep it (for example, financial records of a donation for accounting purposes). You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any newsletter email.
Data retention and security
We keep donation records for as long as required for our financial reporting and accounting obligations, and other personal information for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected for. Access to personal information within our organisation is limited to staff who need it to do their work.
