Support the Mahogany's Family from, Ngecha(Free town), Limuru – Together, We Can Overcome These Challenges
At Humanity Foundation Kenya, we stand by the belief that Humanity Always Wins. But for the Mahogany's family from Ngecha(Free town), this has been a tough journey, and we are calling on you to help them overcome the immense challenges they face.
The Struggles of the Ngecha Family:
This family of five, living in Ngecha, Freetown, is in desperate need of support. Both parents suffer from severe mental health conditions, and their three children have been caught in the struggle for survival:
- Michael, the firstborn son, dropped out of school in Class 5 due to the stigmatization of having mentally unwell parents and the deep poverty they live in. Now 17, he is training in carpentry but dreams of having his own shop to help his family.
- The second and third-born daughters, still in primary school, bravely continue their education at Mahinga Primary School despite the lack of basic necessities and a stable home environment.
- The parents require regular mental health treatment but often miss appointments due to financial struggles, putting their lives and the family's stability at risk.
Their current living conditions are dire:
- The family is living in a dilapidated two-bedroom house full of cracks and holes, which lets in rain during the wet season, posing serious security and health risks for the children.
- They have no access to safe furniture – no proper beds, tables, or chairs.
- The family relies on firewood for cooking, adding to their daily struggle just to have a meal.
What Humanity Foundation Has Done So Far:
- The mother was recently taken to Kijabe Hospital, where she received urgent medical care and is now on the road to recovery.
- We built a 30ft pit latrine with a bathroom to improve sanitation for the family.
But much more needs to be done...
The Next Steps – Your Help is Needed:
We are on a mission to rebuild this family’s life from the ground up, but we cannot do it alone. Here’s what we’re planning, with your help:
- Build a safe home: A two-bedroom stone house, with a bathroom, small kitchen, sitting room, and veranda.
- Furnish the home: Provide beds, chairs, tables, and other essentials for comfort and dignity.
- Mental health care: Ensure both parents receive consistent and proper mental health treatment.
- Support Michael’s dream: Help him complete his carpentry course and set up his own shop to provide for his family.
- Ensure education: Guarantee the two young girls can stay in school without interruption.
- Provide food security: Enroll the family in our feeding program so they don’t have to worry about their next meal.
The Challenges Are Real – But So Are the Solutions:
This family has endured hardships most of us cannot imagine, but with your support, we can transform their lives. Join us in this life-changing effort through Humanity Foundation Kenya.
How You Can Help:
- Donate to fund the house construction, furniture, medical treatments, and education.
- Sponsor the children’s education or Michael’s carpentry training.
- Volunteer to help with construction, mentorship, or distribution of resources.
Together, we can help the Ngecha family rise above their challenges. Let’s show them that they are not alone in this fight – because Humanity Always Wins.
