Rising from Desperation to Promise

Joseph, a bright student from Limuru's Umoja Primary School, achieved an impressive 374 marks in his KCPE. Despite his academic success, the path to joining high school seemed unattainable. His mother, a single parent in Limuru's Karanjee area, works hard selling second-hand clothes from Yoriyori Mitumba shop to support her family. However, the income was never enough to cover the costs of Joseph’s education beyond primary school.

In 2021, facing the bleak reality of financial constraints, Joseph’s mother initially hoped to enroll him in a local school, one she could afford. But at Humanity Foundation, we saw Joseph’s potential and knew he deserved more. We reassured his mother, reminding her that there is a "heavenly sponsor who owns all the silver and gold," and that we would rally behind her to ensure Joseph's educational dreams were not hindered by finances.

Mobilizing Support: Donations and Community Effort

With immense gratitude, we launched a fundraising campaign and reached out to well-wishers. The response was overwhelming. Generous donations, both in funds and goods, flowed in from people who believed in Joseph’s future. With the support raised, Joseph successfully joined Leshau Boys High School in Nyahururu, where he found not only an academic home but also a community that nurtured his growth.

Through hard work and dedication, Joseph excelled academically and became a student leader at Leshau High. Now, as he sits for his KCSE in 2024, his goal of pursuing a career in medicine remains as steadfast as ever.
