House Building for a 79years grandma("Cucu wa Kafuko")

We are thrilled to share a heartwarming story of transformation made possible by the incredible support of our community and partners.

Recently, we had the honor of building a new home for "Cucu wa Kafuko," a 79-year-old grandmother from Karanjee in Limuru. For years, she lived in a dilapidated structure that was not only unsafe but also exposed her to numerous dangers, including the risk of being harmed by intruders. Her living conditions were dire—so bad that even dogs would sneak into her house, and she lived in constant fear for her safety.

Cucu wa Kafuko lived with her grandson, Kelvin Njenga, who, as a primary school student, was forced to roam the streets in search of food. With his grandmother too weak to work, there were days when they went hungry, and Kelvin even dropped out of school due to their dire circumstances. Despite these challenges, Kelvin’s resilience shone through. He returned to school and, despite studying by the light of a firewood lamp, excelled and became the top boychild in the 2021 KCPE exams at Limuru Mission Primary School.

Thanks to the collective efforts of our community, partners, and generous individuals, we were able to make a significant difference in their lives. We built Cucu a safe and comfortable new home made of Iron sheets donated by Boma Mabati Factory, furnished it with new items, including a gas cooker, Furniture, kitchenware, Curtains and installed a water tank donated by Khefis. We also constructed a stone-walled washroom and an outside kitchen, ensuring she has everything she needs.

Additionally, we found a sponsor who committed to supporting Kelvin’s education. As Humanity Foundation Kenya, we were left to cover pocket money, mentorship, and provide parental support. Today, Cucu wa Kafuko, now 83 years old, is living comfortably and safely in her new home, and Kelvin continues to thrive in his studies.

This project highlights the power of community and partnership in restoring dignity and transforming lives. Join us in continuing this vital work. Your support can help us create more stories of hope and transformation. Together, we can make a lasting impact and uplift those in need.
